Anxiety/Anxiety Disorder

Anxiety is a normal response of the brain to stress. It is normal to experience anxiety from time to time in daily life. It is considered a mental disorder if people's anxiety reactions occur very frequently and permanently affect their lives. People with anxiety disorders often experience intense, excessive, and persistent worry or fear in daily life. Anxiety affects a person's daily activities and becomes difficult to control. What are the Types of Anxiety?


Generalized anxiety disorder: There is a constant state of anxiety resulting from excessive worry about normal daily events and the future. Any everyday situation can be a matter of concern. Panic disorder: Panic attacks involve intense anxiety and fear that have a sudden onset, reach their peak within minutes, and have no beginning or end. The person experiences shortness of breath, chest pain or heart palpitations. These panic attacks cause worry that these will happen again or that they will occur again. It may lead to avoidance of situations or places from which they came. Social anxiety disorder (social phobia): It is a state of fear and extreme anxiety of being negatively evaluated and humiliated when performing an action (such as speaking, eating, phoning) in social environments. Agoraphobia: A state of fear and anxiety that may be difficult to avoid in situations such as public transportation, open and closed spaces, being outside the house alone, waiting in line, or being in a crowded environment. Separation anxiety disorder: It is a developmentally inappropriate and excessive level of anxiety or fear about separation from people to whom a person is attached. 


How Does Treatment Progress in Anxiety?


The most common treatments to reduce symptoms of anxiety disorders and manage the disorder are psychotherapy and medications. Psychotherapy is a treatment method where you can learn to understand anxiety disorder and ways to manage situations that cause anxiety.
