Anal Condyloma

Anal condyloma is one of the diseases that our patients who come to our hospital's dermatology clinic worry about or may sometimes be confused with.

What is Anal Condyloma?

Condylomas, popularly known as anal warts, are among the problems encountered due to the HPV virus. It can be transmitted through sexual intercourse. This virus, which has many varieties, enters the cell and changes the DNA structure. The immune system is effective in causing this virus to cause disease. The virus, which can persist for a long time without causing any disease, can also cause penis and anus cancer in men, and cervical cancer and skin cancer in women. HPV, which is a very dangerous virus, can be easily transmitted by contact. Condylomas can gradually multiply and grow.

If left untreated, it can spread to the intestines and cause a blockage. Since it is a disease that can relapse after treatment, the immune system plays an important role. If the immune system is strong, the disease can be defeated more easily. Paying attention to hygiene is an important issue in this disease.

What are the Symptoms of Anal Condyloma?

Condylomas manifest themselves with symptoms such as burning, itching, pain and bleeding in the anal area. In appearance, they consist of white or pink tonsil stone-like clusters in the anal region.

How to Diagnose Anal Condyloma?

Condyloma can be diagnosed by performing some tests after a physical examination. Samples are taken from the lesions caused by HPV infection with the help of cotton and taken to the laboratory environment to be examined. In this examination, the progression of the lesions within the anal canal is checked and, if so, the anal canal is also examined.

How is Anal Condyloma Treated?

Anal condyloma treatment may include antibiotics, as the disease is a virus-based disease, and painkillers, as pain will occur in the area. In surgical treatment, the patient is treated under anesthesia and the type of anesthesia is decided according to the size and multiplicity of the lesions. The areas where the warts are located are cleaned and the warts are burned one by one. Warts are checked in the anus or vagina. If there are warts in these areas, these warts are burned with a laser probe. After diagnosing the disease, our dermatologist will determine the most appropriate treatment method for you and, if necessary, will contact our infectious disease specialist to help you.
